sram mech issues

just bought slx shifter for meta, now can't seem to get into first and second gear at back i.m using it with a sram x7 shifter tried everything, limit screws, barrel adjuster, it worked fine before, could it be because of sram, shimano combination? or am i missing something simple out? any help please anyone ?thanks

1st and 2nd as in the largest or smallest rear cogs?0

Oh, I missed that bit. Yes, SLX and SRAM X series are totally incompatible.0

Will work fine, as long as your shifter is 9 speed SLX.0
