On the PTP thread, you picked Gilbert as the winner about a minute before he crossed the line.

Wow, look at the size of this thread!

Classic Kirbyism in the finalé, there: "And look at Gesink, he's coming all over Gilbert!" Thankfully just after the watershed.

I hadn't laughed so much since... erm... Leipheimer got dropped by Gerald Ciolek 5 minutes earlier.

    Got home safely, Rich?
Epic Fail was this thread, I'd say.

The missus was in the kitchen doing the dishes and must have been listening and when kirby said "And look at Gesink, he's coming all over Gilbert!" - she walked in and was like WTF are you watching in here.. hahah..

Quality racing from Gilbert.. Cant wait for next season!!

It was actually a good race, just as it was last year.

Phil will end the year as World no.1 now (I think Cadel isn't racing again).

There will be an interesting and close three way battle for no. 1 team between Leopard, OPL and Sky.

  • Gesink was really, really, really pushing as hard as he could at the end there

You can't fault the quality riding of Gilbert - awesome to watch someone so much at the top of his game - the guy simply is the stand-out 1-day rider of this generation. He has to be a serious contender for the World's.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Strange there's no GP Montreal thread, but don't really want to open a day after the race - But, what did people make of Roelandts' sprinting there? Impressive he was able to hold Gilbert's wheel, but not normally something you do as team mate, could have helped others. Trying to get a Worlds selection/protected status? Getting World points for Lotto more important for the team than endagering a Gilbert win?

Comment on ES from a viewer that the Kirby/Backstead combo was the best in sport ?!! No way !

Great race finish, super, super strong Gilbert and very good ride by Gesink.
