Seen some Specialised shoes online on sale. Anyone got any ideas about the fit? For instance, I wear 43s in a normal shoe, but my Decathlon MTB shoes are 44s, and 2 previous pairs of Shimano I've needed 45s.

cheers

I'm typically an 8 (42) in dress shoes, 8.5 (42.5) in running shoes, and 9 (43) in cycling shoes (road and MTB, Shimano and Specialized BG). Better to size up as there's nothing worse than tight fitting shoes in the middle of a long ride. Length won't be so much an issue as your feet are pulling up and pushing down more than anything else.

I've tried a few and they've generally come up a bit big. I'm generally a 44/45 in normal shoes, but a 45 in cycling shoes, but a Specialized 44 is a better fit for me than their 45.

My Spec shoes are a 43, which is my normal size.

  • I'm 8.5 in normal shoes and 8 are a good fit in Spesh cycling shoes.

Same here. Fit perfectly without the need to size up.
  • I have to size up.
  • I have a pair of Specialzed shoes. I normally take a 38/39 but had to go up to a 41.

The Specialized stores have a funky heat-reactive pad for you to stand on, which shows what size shoe you need (and is also a way for them to try and sell you extra arch supports).

    Thanks everyone.

Seems a bit too varied for me to judge - and my foot is quite wide, which complicates things, so I'll have to think on.....
  • I find them a bit more snug than shoes in my normal size

  • Specialized shoes are renowned for suiting the wider foot. Definitely worth going up a size too if you plan to ride hard(ish) for decent lengths of time.

Buy 2 or 3 pairs and return the non-fitting ones under the DSR?
  • depend on style
i think i got an older mtb sport shoe bg sport 2 velco straps and laces then tried the newer shoe same model ish.3 straps
went from a 12 up to a 13 poss 13 1/5 and the new style where much more rigid.
I am a 12/13 depends on shoe cut.
I would prefer to at least try shoes on so much variation even across the same brand
Not that bad but bad enough for me
