One of the reasons I've only done a couple. On the whole I'd rather be able to choose do a 100-mile ride by myself in fair weather than chance doing it with 500 other people in rubbish weather. I can buy a lot of cakes (and a pub lunch) with the entry fee I've saved.

If I've already paid for it then I damned well want my moneys worth. Couldn't care less for the weather my friend. Besides, rain = less riders = more freebies for you. Loads of sportives have free energy gels and stuff. Get a pocket full.
The only disability in life is a poor attitude.
  • MTFU and go ride! When its winter and you are freezing your balls off in the rain despite wearing 6 layers you'll be wishing you had made the most of the days when it was still mild enough to wear shorts and lightweight waterproof!

Just HTFU. How do you even know it's raining there til you do the ride ?
There are very few days when it rains non stop. Just dress appropriately. It's only water after all.
