Hi folks,

I've got a rear Mavic Aksium wheel with a Campy freehub, but I want to change it to a Shimano fitting. I've got the replacement freehub, but when I come to remove the existing one, the non-drive side doesn't resemble the one I've found in the how-to videos like:

My non-drive side doesn't have a 'pull off cap', but a nut with a threaded plastic cap behind it. This is the best image I've found of it online:

I've removed the nut and cap, but the threaded axle is still in place, and neither can I get a 10mm allen key into the non-drive side. Even the official Mavic instructions seem to suggest an easy pull off cap:

Can anyone point out where I'm going wrong?

More than a year late but since I was wondering if I need to bin my Mavic Aksium wheels, till I read on a British forum
    http://forums.roadcyclinguk.com/showthread.php/115580-Mavic-Aksium-Freehub
that one can use a 17mm cone spanner on the non-drive side and the same 5mm hex spanner on the drive side to take the freehub off an Aksium, and that it is stiff.

The Mavic website seems to ignore Aksiums as if they are too cheap to want to maintain!?

Mavic Technical Manual. Have a look at page 20-21. Basically, you remove the axle and the freehub pulls off. Clean up and lube with mineral oil (or derailleur oil) and re-assemble.
