Anyone know of any good road routes around there, looking for something about 40-50 miles. I'd give the cat and fiddle a go but worry it's a bit of a race track for motorbikers and guys in impreza turbos, am I being neurotic?
Any decent books that people can recommend?

Ta!!!

  • Get a map. Look for Kettleshulme, go to either Errwood or Lamaload reservoir, head to Wilboarclough, try over to Longnor, Crowdicote. Round Combs is good aswell.
In all honesty, far too many roads to recommend. Keep off the main roads and you won't go far wrong. Cat and Fiddle is OK going down, but a PITA up due to traffic (on any day).
Cake stops - now we're talking
Peak View cafe - near Cat and Fiddle - great selection, carrot cake fantastic
Blaze Farm (A53 close to Wildboarclough)- ice cream delicious
Longnor - beside the cobbles - tuna paninis the best I've had
There are many many others. Buxton itself has loads.
