Hi, over the past few weeks I have been upgrading my scale 35 quite a bit...All work was carried out by myself which shows even a novice can pretty much build up a bike ;)
I have done the following mods to it

XT chainset
XT Brakes (Thanks to Northwind for the clamps for the X9 shifters  )
Superstar rims (Stans crest, sapim CX ray spokes & superstar superleggera hub and switch front hub)
Nobby Nic tyres (Just waiting for my rim tape & sealant to go tubeless)
Easton EA70 stem
Easton monkey lite CNT lo-rise bars
V12 Mag pedals
Superstar grips
Red 'Token' superlight CNC alloy headset spacers
Swapped most screws to stainless and polished the heads
Hope seatclamp
X0 rear mech was fitted earlier in the year.
Anyway heres a few pics

Hoping to get it onto the scales and see what it actually weighs...I should of weighed it when standard Doh

Thanks! The tyres are running the way the arrows say so assume they are the correct way

Yep, that's right. The old ones had the rear going the oppsite way (what looks 'right'), but they seem to have gone for the same direction for both now.

Needs some proper pedals and you're right away!

And what are 'proper' pedals in your opinion lol....I don't want SPD's, had a few bad offs with them!!

I was meaning clipless, but it was tongue in cheek.

If it were mine I'd also ditch the red headset spacers and the green grips. But it looks good, nice colour scheme that, don't see enough green bikes!

Green grips may go at some stage but will wait untill they are worn out  I find it feels quite a bit better now though with the slight rise on the bars!

Nowt wrong with the bars, would just have black or carbon headset spacers personally.

Do you see quite a few people on XC bikes with risers? I just had the spacers lying around so thought i'd use them but IMO think they look quite good lol

Yes, far more common now than it used to be. I'd go as far as saying risers are now more common than flats.

I've raced on riser bars for 2 seasons and wouldn't go back in a hurry.

I'd agree with you there, I feel much more confident on the decents now. Just need this weather to get a bit better now! Not to bothered about the rain its just when its blowing a gail AND rain which i'm not to keen on

    Thankyou :):)
  • Very nice, but the spacers kill it for me. Some white spacers, or possibly lime green, and it would be 1000000% ace.

Hmm, maybe i'll swap the headset spacers for some white or back to black ones at some point. I only put them on as I couldn't find my old black ones nd found those lying around  Other than that I am VERY happy at how it has turned out and it has given me the confidence to actally maybe buy an old frame and build a bit of a 'cheaper' bike up from second hand parts :)

    Thanks for the comments 8)

edit : black spacers ordered 8)
