Could anyone suggest a jacket which meest following criteria:
.lightweight windproof type
.removeable sleeves - to form gillett.
.waterproof would be a bonus but not essential.
Just something light i can wear over my base layers / jersey ?
Nothing too flash or expensive - mate picked up something from Sportworld a year ago (probably a running jacket) but they dont stock them anymore!
Any suggestions?

Not a gillet but montane jackets are great for packng in the bag, pack up slightly larger than an apple,Timmo.

Reading the description in looks like a boil in the bag jacket. :?:0 -
its a great jacket and its not a boil in the bag as you put it as theres a flap at the back that works great as a vent.the flap is where the arms detach to make it a gilet....Giant Reign 2

unless the rain pours from the ground up it keeps you dry.the flap is about a 3rd way down the back and works over the shoulders where the zips come down the chest and its velcro'd under the neck so it covers and keeps you dry.ive been out in all conditions and it has kept me bone dryGiant Reign 2

mine is black so not the bright orange flavour you see on the Marmot site. I was going to buy a jacket the turned in t a gillet and decided on this and i am glad i did.
it packs in to a crisp packet, and thats not a joke it actually does!
its breathable to the point I've ridden all day at a fan in may and i wasn't wet through with sweat but yet it is actually warm in march and feb due to the wind proofing
well worth the £120 i paid for it, i won't buy another jacket

Paramo furea windproof jacket for me. Not a gillit though and not as lightweight as the montane but is far more durable. Have fallen off wearing mine several times with no damage. Also if you proof it using nickwax tx wash in direct it will stand a good shower. When you go to the ground you are in my world. My world is the ocean. I am the shark and most people don't know how to swim0

I've got a Royal Transformer - really good, not waterproof but certainly resistant, I practically live in mine! Not very easy to find in stock now but CRC have a small Olive in stock at £50 or so..0
