Anyone else been affected by the great London Power Cut of 2011? If our building isn't back up by 1 then I'm going to take the long route home. Group ride?

    O rly?

All fine in Fulham - though my tube did have issues at Whitechapel this morning due to a power faliure - they got it back and running though.

And yes I did say tube :(

Have you checked that someone hasn't just turned the lights off?

Lights are back on now but they were down for 40 minutes. Parts of GIR were down and others weren't. Twitter was reporting outages across large areas. We've still got no sockets working.

It's all over now, but ITV mapped tweets from the areas affected.

It's a pretty big area. Bet someone got a slap on the wrist.

Ooo, I was round there for work on Friday.

Anyone want to buy some second hand power cable?

We're fine but then we have a big F/O generator sitting in the car park with enough power for our whole building, let alone the 3500 sq ft corner we have  Someone "over ordered"...

But when the local power cuts out, we just carry on regardless :)

Yeah, very surprised they don't have a UPS here, but then the data centre isn't here anymore so why would anyone need to prevent against power outages and the lost work of hundreds of people who hadn't checked it back in.

Air conditioning has failed to come back on. It's getting a bit warm round here.

Our UPS is a 2-story flywheel in a vacuum that is spun up from the mains, with a couple of marine diesel generators that have half an hour to kick in.

Loss of power can be expensive in scrapped production for us.
