My lovely Trek 6400, bought new in 2003, today snapped in half! Not quite that dramatic but the rear right stay has cleanly snapped. I think this is a warranty issue. Any ideas?[/img]

I now live about 200 miles from the shop but, yes, it'll have to go back. I looked at the warranty and I think it definitely qualifies for a new frame. Trek's website claims they have "the best warranty in the industry".
Does anybody have any experience of Trek warranty claims?0 -

Given its the rear right, the first question you will be asked is has there been any chainsuck damage? Where has it snapped? If its by the chainset then you are probably hoping for the generosity of Trek more than anythingA Flock of Birds

Was it a lifetime warranty in 2003?0

Thanks folks. Will need to check about warranty at time of sale - good point though. There has been (inevitable?) chain suck but it still shouldn't, in my opinion, result in catastrophic failure. I agree though, if Trek are a bad mood, they'll use it as a get-out clause. I'll let you know how it's going. Fingers crossed!0
