SRAM PC991 9 speed
Curious one this. I replaced my old lower spec SRAM chain (PC971) to a hollow pin PC991 tonight. The rear shifting is perfect, the front shifting has become lousy, especially from middle to big chain ring (its a triple) - it will hardly shift at all, no matter how much I adjust it.
Two things I wonder, the front shifting is an old Dura Ace system, although I replaced the big ring with a Stronglight one (after it became worn). Could this be the problem?
Alternatively, do I need to adjust the cage alignment completely?
Any thoughts anyone?

I,d expect the Dura Ace chainring had shifting ramps and pins to aid shifting, has the Stronglight ring got the same?, if not that could be the cause, i wouldnt think it would be the chain.0

The Stronglight chainring doesn't have the same ramping etc. as the original Shimano, however I changed the chainring over a year ago and it worked fine with the PC971 chain.
I was wondering if there is some difference in construction of the chains (due to the hollow pins?) that the issue with the stronglight ring has only become apparent now?
Guess I'm going to change back to the old chain in the meantime.0
