Apologies in advance if this has been asked before!

As the evenings start to draw in I'm considering buying my first turbo trainer to provide a smooth training transition through to next year. Just wondering if anyone could advise on what I should be looking for in a turbo trainer, how much I need to spend, and any recommendations.

Also is there anything else I need for my bike to use the turbo trainer e.g. training tyre etc?

Thanks in Advance

This has been covered (and covered, and covered) over the last few months quite a few times :) I'll sum up for you.

Either a Cycleops Fluid 2 or Kurt Kinetic Road Machine. Kurt Kinetic is built better (IMO), has a lifetime warranty, but is about £60 more. Cycleops is cheaper and has a quick release on it. Both good machines, just depends on your budget.

Get a specific trainer tyre if you want, but they're not mandatory.
  • Only ever had one turbo, the Cycleops Magneto. Very quiet, i just use mine in front of the TV when the weathers really bad and i get an irritation at not getting out.
No regrets buying mine..i just use my normal wheel with a gatorskin, no wear issues.
