hey everyone!

so did my longest ride ever on weekend and obviously i didnt use enough chamois cream because the chaffing was bad!

was just wondering how much should you use?
i have assos at the mo but guess i didnt put enough on. thing is im not a great fan of the tingling that i get everytime i put the assos cream on. at first i thought i might have an allergy to it. but then read on here it is supposed to feel like that.

anyway, sorry if this seems a dumb question.

thanks for your advice

None up to 100 miles. I use Assos shorts. Seems to suit me. Depends on how far you usuually ride compared to how far you went on your long ride. Also heat and sweat come into it. Well sometimes they do :-0

Tingling is normal (it's antiseptic I think).
  • Liberal application works for me.

Not had any tingling apart from when I got it on my bell end and I wouldn't describe that as a tingle

i try not to use it regularly. For me it can actually create sores as it can block the pores.

The right saddle and quality shorts are my preference for avoiding discomfort as well as good hygiene.

I know it sounds obvious, but if you are experiencing "problem areas" you should apply more cream to those areas. Assos chamois cream is dfeinitely not the problem.

The shorts being too loose could also be a problem: the chaffing is caused by fabric rubbing against skin.

May I ask wher exactly the "hot-spot" is?

Well, haven't had much luck with the "help, men, my boobs are too big" sites, so I thought I'd go back to basics. ;-)
  • Never used it. Even on a 12hr TT.

I use about half a golf ball's worth unless it's raining as well in which case I usually put a bit more on just in case. As has been said make sure you are covering the contact areas, sit bones especially.

Can't say I've ever had the need to use it even when riding for over 8-10 hours.
