Take a look at Strava.com, it does way more than Garmin Connect, such as auto sense climbs and ranks you on them!

The problem with most of these upload sites is that you cant make your rides 100% private, so anyone interested enough to search will see where I start and finish all my rides, and can extrapolate from there where I am likely to keep my bikes!
When one exists that is 100% private, I will sign up!0 -
I agree this could be a concern If I mark my rides as private in connect in what way aren't they private?0

You are reliant on their security system working first time, every time, with no margin for error on your part. (Making sure you mark each ride private every time.)
Also, have you checked their terms and conditions. Usage of free websites usually has some sort of payoff. Im not saying Strava has, but what do they do with your data. Sometimes using the free angle, is just one mechanism involved. Facebook and its marketing income are a great example. Hell, sometimes the pay ones, re-use your data in other ways too.0 -

Just don't start and stop your rides right outside your house. Simple.More problems but still living....0 -
Remember all these sites by default set workouts to public (including garmin connect) and you need to set in the settings everything to private.
Also with garmin connect on a couple of occasions I've clicked on my activity list to be presented with someone else's list (that I could edit/delete). I've reported this to garmin and I have no idea if its fixed!!
Whilst not as paranoid as some in this thread its good to be mindful of what you put online0 -
With Strava you can set your start / finish location to be obscured within a user-defined radius of a set location0

My account on GarminConnect defaulted to private.0

Would it be just as easy for the alleged thieves to follow you home?
For starters looking at routes on the web gives you no idea of what bike is being ridden, it could be something really crap like a Cervelo or something fairly decent like a 1970s classic Raleigh. They are unlikely to break in to your garage/house speculatively.
Alternatively if I m driving a long a a nice shiny top of the range cycles past it is a lot easier to follow them (assuming that the said thief knows a good bike from a skateboard),0
