No long special rides or anything, (not surprising with this weather!) but a great day bike wise.
I've been riding a mountain bike regularly for a while, but whilst a singlespeed 29er is spot on for playing in the downs, it's not great for a flat tarmac ride of 22 miles that I was doing once or twice aweek. I started looking around for a roadbike, and conveniently a friend was upgrading and selling his old bike. Even more conveniently, he was another 6'5 lanky bugger, 'cos I'd had trouble tracking down anything in my size!
So Specialized Allez, a couple of years old, XXL frame, basic spec, non-working rear brake and front derailleur or gear lever, worn tyre rims, slightly worn tyres, but they are Gatorskins, and an awful lot of scratches on the frame.
40 minutes after work today sorted both the brake and the gears. :-)
So not too shabby for £50!
Any thoughts on touching up a matt black alu frame? Just touch up paint? Will that work? Best methods anyone? Not planning a full respray just yet, want something for under a tenner.
Now all I've got to do is learn how to balance! Skinny bars, tiny tyres... Not very confident jut yet, but loving the sheer speed of it!
Could get addicted to that I think! Anyway, will shut up and leave you in peace.
Tomorrow's challenge: The commute in pissing rain on skinny tyres!

Proved by testing to be faster than a badger.

Matt paints can be a bitch to match in my experience.
the only decent way is to respray it. pick a colour you like and buy a rattle can!0 -
Welcome to the road world, whatever you do, don't sell the MTB if you get into road riding seriously. I made that mistake, and only just now got a new MTB.
As far as the touch up paint, a bit of that should sort it out as long as the scratches are not too big.0 -
Ok bike then
Tin of hammerite for the paint job0
