Winter Tyre Question

I intend on commuting roughly 8 miles down untreated cycle tracks in the hills of West of Scotland. I already have winter conti tyres fitted to the car so am well aware of the benefits.
Currently looking at either
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/schwalbe-snow-s ... -mtb-tyre/
or
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/schwalbe-marath ... -mtb-tyre/
Being a tight scot there is a tenner difference between the two for the pair. What is the actual difference and is the dearer one worth the extra?
Cheers!

The only real difference I can see is that the marathon's look a bit slicker, quality wise I doubt there's anything in it.
What sort of tyres would you use on the same surface in better weather? If you prefer knobblies I'd go with the snow studs, if you usually have something slicker I'd go with the marathons.0 -
The snow studs will be better for, err, snow. I'm on the Black Isle and I've opted for the Marathon WintersROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0

I wouldn't be on urban roads if ice tyres are needed. The motor vehicles certainly won't have ice tyres. Not down here, anyway. Too many folks drive extra badly to prove to themselves the superiority of their inappropriately tyred symbol of self-image.
I'd stay on the pavement.0 -
You mention having Conti winter tyres on your car, have you considered these tyres:
