Looking to get a wireless TV aerial and would appreciate some advice please.

We have one main TV connected to an aerial and Virgin cable box. We have another TV that has no external aerial or Virgin connection and would like to be able to pick up TV channels without needing to route cables through the house (at the moment the kids just watch DVDs on it). My other half has been looking at a DigiSender (or equivalent) but I would like to understand more about it.

Can the kids watch their channels while we watch something different?
Can the 2nd TV pick up the cable channels, and, as above can they watch one thing on cable while we watch another?

Thanks for any advice.

What the didgi sender dose is take a signal from a SCART socket and send it to another TV.

So, if you put the device in the scart socket of the VM box what ever the VM box is doing gets sent to the other TV.

So basically no, you can't watch a different channel on the second TV. Unless you watch a program through the aerial on the main TV and a 'sent' picture through cable on the second.

Some of the more sophisticated models will allow you to change channels from the second TV, the more basic models you'd have to walk to the main TV to change channels.

But be warned, they can play havoc with wireless internet. Especially if you wireless router is near your TV.

My advice is stay clear. A additional outlet from VM is not that much extra, between £5-£10 a month. And they are making a big push to get as many installs in now before the end of Q3 so you may get a free install as well.

Alternatively if you upgrade your main box to a new Tivo box (About £49 to install and a extra few quid a month) you should be able to keep your existing box for free. :)

Thanks Richard, that's really helpful. We have just bought a new TV with internet so have moved the wireless router next to the TV (it was upstairs before). The whole point of getting another TV is so the kids can watch TV/DVD instead of being subjected to the TdF/Vuelta etc etc for weeks on end (other half records it every day so TV is out of bounds every afternoon).

Cabling is the issue which is why another VM box or aeriel socket is not a preferred option (the 2nd TV will be on an internal wall) - but perhaps this is the only option.
