Is the 11 speed Campag missing link reusable?
Does it require a tool for fitting and removal?

  • 1 - No (at least, according to KMC)
2 - No tool needed for putting on. For removing, never tried. Needle nose pliers will almost certainly work if you can't remove the link using just your hands though. No need for a special tool.

Thanks. Has using one effected the shifting performance in any way?

Interesting idea to undo them here:

I have tried that method and it works well.

I always use the vid clip here for the 10 speed one, works fine. Can't think of a reason why it wouldn't apply to 11 speed also:

I don't know, since I had the the 11 speed QL on from the moment I fitted the chain. Subjectively, it shifts fine. If you DON'T use the QL from the beginning, then you are looking at a special tool to link the chain. The Campag one is £100+ but others exist too. I'd recommend the QL route.
  • I have the chain tool ( it was the only way when I bought 11 speed). But I want to be able to change the chain when I change chainsets without taking rivets out. It looks as though I will have to use a new Missing Link every time though as they are not reusable. My LBS said he had a customer who had shifting problems with the missing link fitted.

    KMC 11 is re-useable AFAIC

I regularly remove and refit after cleaning, done 1000's of miles and no problems, shifting is beautiful and sweet.
