  • Cateye range is good. Depends what your needs are really - wireless? Cadence? Heart rate? Or just speed and mileage?

I had a Cateye Strada Double Wireless before my Garmin and it was a good bit of kit.

Also, maybe better to post this in the Road Buying Advice forum.
  • I was just about to advertise a Cateye Micro Wireless in the classifieds.

I had a couple of people interested but heard nothing back so decided to post it up on here. £20 delivered if you're interested anyway. Looks as new after 4 months use - put around 2400 miles on it but am sure it can be reset to zero. I've got a Garmin 800 now myself so cant see it being of use to me now

  • just speed and mileage really, and yeah wireless would be good, i was looking for something new, unless it is a pretty sweet deal ;)

so is Garmin the way forward then?

Before swapping to a garmin I had a wireless cateye computer and would highly recommend them, seemed very accurate and full of features for the money.
    Felt AR4
    Planet X Pro Carbon 105
MTB Kona Kikapu Deluxe with a few upgrades!!
  • Garmin is the way forward yes......... £300+ for my 800 with cadence and heart rate monitor though. The Garmin's are a great training tool with the GPS and downloadability. Have a look online at a Garmin Edge 500 and see it you're tempted.
  • I have looked at the 500, and it is tempting me a lot! but I may take that cateye, if I dont find anythng in the next few days!

anyone else got an old computer lying around?

Edge 500 all the way! I had a cateye for a few months, yeah it does the majority of stuff but gps is worth the extra outlay. You can create routes on a computer, or get them from sites like ridewithgps, and upload them to the unit. Somewhere was selling the garmin for a £100 though cant remember where.

Velomann are pretty good; manuals are a bit difficult to follow though.

  • Mavic Wintech E-Bolt, the sensor attaches to the QR skewer so no unsightly sensor on forks

it does basic speed, mileage, avg speed, max etc and if down the line you wanted can add cadence to it

    :)
