SRAM X9 crankset (2x10) to single ring 1x10?

Can the SRAM X9 or indeed X0/XX cranksets be converted to 1x10 with an E13 chainring? The 4 crank mount points look rather large.

Will I need to change spacers etc?

    It depends on the BCD (bolt circle diameter) and pattern of the chainring you are looking at ie 4 bolt, 104mm for the outer set of chainring tabs.

    Shorter chainring bolts are required for this, or spacers to mimic the other ring.

    Or a bashguard that has the same thickness mounting (most ally ones)....
