now before i had my bike i would walk my dog and the kids on spike island which is in widnes, the path follows the trans penine trail.Today i wanted to get out of the house so got on my bike and went for a what i though would be a nice quiet ride along this path.
In the summer i had noticed some motorbikes on the other side using some dis-used land with some crazy descents on it. My first thought was how the hell did they get on there ?
so today as i was riding along the path i crossed over the railway line with my bike on my shoulder and through some broken fence.
i then rode up to look for an entrance and i found it.Now i had to push my bike up a small hill but once i had done that i was in heaven. Some of the descents were scary  the tracks what the motorbikes had made were ace, there are sections were it's like a continuous small pump track and there is a small little wooded area where some roots have lifted and you can get some serious jumps going.
Dont get me wrong this place is raw, unforgiving and there is no route to speak of but for me this place is a god send and so close. To say its got potential is and understatement.
There are ruins of an old industrial building there which would be amazing for freeriders with steps etc and nothing some people with a few brushes could not solve to clean it up.
with only me there today all on my own in this vast space of crazy descents and mad tracks it was amazing. i will take photos when i go again on monday maybe a vid , but also if anyone is local and fancies a ride around give me a shout.
sorry for the long post im buzzing oh and filthy.

Kes, just make sure your not trespassing, get some practice in on the jumps and the decents, remember to start small and build up.0

not sure how to get google map ref, think this is it 53.365224,-2.697315 but if you search for Catalyst Museum, Mersey Road, Widnes that gets you to spike island car park. there is enough descents and jump for me to practice on there,
we can always meet there ? and ride up.0 -

It is private land , if you go up to the top end by the tip Halton council have signs on the fence saying that trespasser will be prosecuted. They have a private security firm parked up in Johnsons Lane and the police on off road bikes visiting the area to catch anyone on there.
I was talking to 2 police officers on off road motorbikes a few days ago waiting on the Trans Pen and they are out to get anyone who goes on there, I didn’t tell them I have been riding on there for years.0 -
oops how naughty of me oh well keep on searching.0

Maybe give it a few months and when the police and council see that the motorbikes are not using the land they will go away.
They have invested a lot of money in replacing a lot of the fencing to keep people out, I think the only way in now is the part you found by crossing the canal and railway and going up the hill.0 -
been back a couple of times now and i have seen vast improvement in what i can do. im jumping and going down rocky drop offs and descents and im really enjoying sessioning this sort of thing. i found a few railway sleeprs today and moved them around a bit to create a bit a bit of a section where i was riding on them. this helped loads with my balance and i made it so there was a nice jump at the end.
