Brake levers and shifters

At the moment my levers are next to my grips and my shifters are next to my levers, I want to swap this around so my shifters are next to my grips and my levers are next to my shifters so my levers are further away from my grips.

My shifters have pod indicators on them like pictured below, is there an easy way to remove the indicators to allow more manoeuvrability of the levers?

remove the displays and fit the blacking plate.

Wont the blanking plate take up the same amount of room?

No it's a small plastic disc that sits inside of the Display, it just covers the top holes on the shifter to stop dirt getting in and doesn't have any vertical element to it.

Thanks guys, i didn't realise that the blanking plate was behind the indicators, Job done, Seems odd not being able to see them now but i think that is a good thing as I willno use my judgement more.
