  • Looks cool but just feels wrong - Scalextrics has to have mini coopers blasting around the track :)

That's the one I had, the 300. Yellow and red mini's. Loved it.

..and the great thing about having kids is you can do it all over again.

Every year i check out their christmas lists and persuade them to drop whatever and get a new car, bridge, pit stop lane etc.

The digital version is brilliant, wish we'd had it when i was young.
  • I can't imagine this is a very exciting analog for track cycling though?

  • Saw this on "Something for the Weekend" a week or so ago.
    Didn't look that impressive.

My idea of a Scalextric track is akin to the one James May built around the Brooklands Circuit.

    What's the advantage? Variable speed?

You can run four cars on the same two lane track (or 6 on 4-lanes) and the ability to overtake (a bit like signal points on a railway track), are the big plusses, add pit-stop lanes, electronic lap counter , reverse travel direction.
The cars are a bit grippier too as they have a magnet in the floor pan.

me too - or at least I started off with that set. accumulated loads more track and cars over the years.

It made a reappearance from the loft about 6 years ago and was updated to the newer power pack and a couple of newer cars, but not the digital overtaking thing which is only a year or two old I think.

I can see it coming down from the loft again soon, its great fun.
