Hi all, Ive recently bought a light touring/audax bike, which i plan to do the end to end on and then use it as a winter training bike. i will be having panniers on the back but not camping so fairly light load. Problem is that the wheels that came with the bike are really heavy,.965 and 1195 grams and realy compromise the feel of the bike. so was thinking of upgrading to a lighter and stronger wheelset,, without breaking the bank. Anyone have any suggestions. Will be much appreciated.

cheers

Spa Cycles handbuilt - Rigida Snyper rims, Shimano hubs. About £160. Will last forever and stay true. Worth every penny.
    Faster than a tent.......

Mavic CXP33 rims on the hubs of your choice. Around 1950g the pair.

Or even open pros, around 1700g the pair.

Or Ambrosio excellights, similar to open pros.

This. I went for 105 hubs and I couldn't be happier
  • Hope hoops - hope pro3 hubs on mavic open pros. Quality hubs, quality rim, built in the uk, 32 normal spokes so strong, about 1650g, so lively.
