Already heavily reduced at CRC, plus the recent 10 off deal and I couldn't resist.
Delivered to work today, so it's still got the crappy plastic pedals, trouserguard, and plastic backing on the cassette. When I get home, I've got some MG1 pedals, a Ragley Cheeky saddle and some ritchey WCS foam grips to fit.
Will be used mainly for commuting and beach riding (obviously) but I can stick some nobblies on to do easy XC stuff.
crappy mobile phone pics don't pic it up properly, but it's actually a really nice paint-job.

shame it did not come with disc ready hubs.
But a nice set up I had something similar a few years back."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Cheers nick. I know, it's odd. They spec it with a disc ready frame, disc ready fork, but v-only hubs.
They reckon they spec vs over discs because it's better for beach riding. Not sure I agree, but it does save a little weight if nothing else.
Mind you, I've not heard great things about those XR4.1 rims. They're supposed to be shocking unless you use anything but the special DT swiss pads designed for the ceramic rims. The ones that go for £35 per pair
It's all pointing towards a possible new wheelset down the line.
Saddle and grips never turned up, (they'll both be black, going for a stealth look on this one) but pedals were waiting. £29.99 for MG1s, bargaintastic!

you can get quote a tune out of those tyres. (Well I could out of my Big apples on the rear).
TBH all I would like on that are some BB7s"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Stealth mode now engaged.
Brakes were on the wrong sides so they've been swapped round.
Still can't get over how rapid it is. 23lbs, no suspension, and those supermoto tyres make it properly quick.
Can't wait to try it out on the beach properly.0 -

It gets better too.
I just tried it, and if the mood takes me, I can stick the wheels and brakes off the Edison on it and it only increases weight by about 100g.
Not that I'm webbo enough to want to go rigid offroad very often, but it's nice to have the choice.
It may even be an option for the end2end in a couple of weeks.0 -
ive just completed a single speed cruiser type bike using my old banshee viento frame, i just threw a load of old bits together and ended up with quite a mad bike. its great for nipping to the chippy on. will upload some pics once i decide on a silly name for the project. the beone looks lovely.Viner Salviati

Night ride on the beach.
It's pretty awesome actually, I was astonished at how much grip you have on sand.
It's quite un-nerving when you leave the beach and get back on the road though, sounds like the whole bike is just grinding away to nothing. After 5 mins and a quick spin through all the gears though it's all fine.
Quick hose down ater the ride washes all the sand and salt off no bother.

I've been thinking about getting this bike so it's nice to see photos. I live on the coast and have suddenly gotten into riding on the beach. I have been using my Trek Fuel EX 9.8 with those SuperMoto tires. The tires are great. The bike is probably overkill for this use, which is why I'm looking at this one. One tip: you do not want discs on the beach. They really foul pretty badly. Keep it simple. That bike is well designed.0

Update:
Swapped the Karma over to SS last night
32t front
17t rear
Been working that combo on the commute lately and it's just about enough to winch myself up steepness without getting into too much trouble. Shouldn't be a problem though because everyone knows all SS bikes are powered entirely by the riders smugness.
The bike now weighs in at 21.3lbs. Could easily drop that under 19lbs by swapping the wheels/tyres,which I may or may not do later in the year
