Something seems to be slowing the main site down

I've been struggling to get my Bike Radar fix this lunchtime as the something seems to be slowing the site down causing IE8 to freeze for up to a minute.

I thought it may have been an advert so I installed an ad-blocker. I know you don't like users installing them as adverts are a revenue stream but I thought I'd try anyway.

Anyway the ad blocker made no difference (many ads are blocked by our IT dept in the first place anyway).

The forum is loading at normal speed.

Any ideas?

    I imagine its linked, but when using the forums, it keep, showing boxes with no image written inside them. This would appear to be for all avatars, and signatures etc.

    Its a bit of pain to use the forums, as the pages dont load up properly

    I just keep seeing the 'no image' instead of avatars on the left, what's that all about? Bloody irritating that's for sure, come on guys, sort it out cripes ......
