Botched headset installation

Managed to stick the wrong sized headset cups into my frame (Giant FCR 2). Now I've got the headset cups out, I measured the HS tube and it's widened from 41.5mm to 45mm!!!

Obviously buggered up the measurements somewhere along the line. Where do I go from here?

Thanks in advance.

Your frame has snuffed it. Bereft of life, it rests in peace.

Wow. You must have used really, really big hammer! I'm impressed.

I suppose if you can rig up a way of mounting it you might just be able to turn it into a turbo bike (well, rear triangle), but don't consider using it as a bike -- it will catastrophically fail.
Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.
  • Thank you all for your heartfelt condolences.

Last few days without a bike just doesn't feel right. It just doesn't feel natural getting around whilst striding upon two limbs.

    Bugger!!!
  • How on earth did it manage to stretch by 3.5mm diameter without splitting!! Are you sure you didnt use a 10 tonne hydraulic press to do that!! Are you actually sure it has widened the tube? Theframe's paint finish would have broken up long before you got anywhere near that much expansion!!
