I've damaged my rear Sram X5 mech and need to buy a replacement, I'm thinking of upgrading to an X9 rear mech, is it worth the extra few quid....what makes the X9 better than the X5?

The X9 is available in short, medium and long cage ....which do I need for a 9 speed set up?

what shifters do you have. as that is where the main difference in Feel" can be made.

mech cage length see the FAQs for the answer. but but the info given any and all or just one. more info is needed.

I have 3 front rings....so long cage according to what I've just read.

Will gear selection be smoother with the X9 rear upgrade? or won't I notice any differance unless I upgrade the shifter as well, which I shan't be doing.

you are just paying for less weight. the fell is (as already said) in the shifter.
