Hey guys,

My local store has a bike i really want, a 2011 TCR advanced road bike.

I asked about discount as its an out going model and they only offered me 10%.... that didnt sound great

What discount would you normally expect on a bike in the £3000 range?

Would help if I know then I can go back in and make a counter offer!

Thanks a lot

Best bet would be to find the cheapest price online and ask if they can price-match. There's no rule on discount though...

    Which model? The TCR 1?

Wiggle has the 2011 version for £2100

There is no chance that they'll be able to match that price though if they have it in stock.

Oh, and use quidco for 2pc cashback too.

If it helps, the new 2012 TCR1 with ultegra RRPs at £2500. Only difference is, is the paintjob, and also the wheelset. (Oh, not to mention the updated frame, stiffer, lighter, internal cable routing etc) They come with GIANT wheels, not DT RR1700s. (Giant wheels are DT Swiss, but branded GIANT by DT Swiss). That's what i'm getting soon.

Hopefully, they'll be in the shops in about 3-4 weeks.

2012 will look similar to this.. This is the AUS version, not the UK version

Haven't seen one in the flesh yet. IMO, the 2012 frames have a nicer shape, and apparently they ride slightly nicer. Mate manages a Giant dealership and he owns a tcr advanced 2. He went on o test day with the 2012 bikes, and they ride very similar. They're also Di2 ready ;) and have a cutout for Giant Ridesense instead of strapping a cadence sensor on the nds chainstay.

  • I got a local dealer down to £1500 with a helmet for a 2011 Giant Tcr Comp1.

25% off deals are out there, just be prepared to search around (google products) and haggle.

Not in same price bracket, but I just got 28% off mine.

    A Giant Defy 2 for £520 instead of £720
  • be careful on this - a lot of online prices are make believe because they dont have stock. If, at this time of year, the stock levels on wiggle or evans for example say 4-6 days instead of 'in the warehouse' or similar then they wont be able to get the bikes (or whatever product) but it is difficult not to get tempted by a "trek madone for £750" deal
  • Just got my TCR comp 1 today for £1500 from All terrain, look at the advanced at another shop, looked into it, but to be honest, I couldnt really tell the difference, so parked he cash towards some deep sections!
