looks awesome in your pics
and yea simon, i think for me ebays a big gamble, im sure if you know what you're doing its easy to find something for a bargain that maybe only needs a little done to it. but id end up taking it to a shop and gettin ripped off again0 -
went and saw it, they only had medium tho, which was pretty small for me, not sure what their M is in inches but my current bike is a 19" frame
they wont have large till mid sept... so if anyhting comes up before then please post it.
think ill pass on the ebay spesh after Cat With No Tail's last post0 -
too late to edit my post,
any thoughts on this compared to the 8.1? http://www.canyon.com/_uk/mountainbikes ... tml?b=20500 -
Very little in it. Parts wise the Rockrider shades it, has a better crank, more expensive drivetrain and upgraded brakes, but maybe not enough to make a huge difference.
Mail order, so you take a risk on size.0 -
And likely to take a few weeks to arrive minimum.
Long Canyon thread here.

how does this compare?
£80 cheaper than the decathlon

Is a good deal, on a par with the Decathlon.0
-
Cheers, the only thing putting me off is the weight. Says it's 14KG and the Decathlon is 12.somethingKG.
Plus i cant check it out in person.
I see someones made a thread for it here so will keep my eye on it.

They should be getting the Decathlon in (to glasgow) really soon aswell.0 -
Im also a little puzzled about sizing. My current bike is 19" but i do sometimes get a sore back after cycling.
I remember my previous bike i think was an 18" and it felt like i had more control/comfort but when climbing the front would lift off sometimes.
My height is around 6ft and and my inside leg is around 33", sorry i cant be exact but im measuring myself.
When i tried the decathlon the guy thought id need a large.
Any advice?0 -
Depends on the numbers - some 19 can be smaller than 18! See the What Size thread sticky for reasons.0
-
Ordered it. £80 is a lotta money after i thought about it. And i got the large.0
-
got it had little ride today. still feels like it needs worn in a bit, never had a new bike before.
its amazing to be able to get the gears you want when you want. i wonder how long it'll last. i guess that depends on me taking proper care of it.
the saddle on it isn't great, i think ill use my old saddle. the handlebars arent that comfortable either, they're kinda pointing down. my old bike i have them pointing up. my wrists were a bit sore when i waas done so i may do some adjusting there.
also does anyone think i should take the tyres off and put on my old ones? these tyres are way thicker and obviously for hills etc, should i save them? as ill be doing a lot of road in the near future0 -

I was going to get one of these today from Evans Cycles in Manchester to replace my 2008 model (Avalanche 1.0) but due to a mistake on there behalf and what there computer had in stock I ended up with a Pinnacle Iroko One.
Should have been £850, reduced to £650. But then I was going to price match the GT against the Wiggle price (wanted the bike straight away) and the manager (due to reserving the bike and paying a deposit) let me have the Pinnacle for £420 too.
Well impressed, brilliant spec for the money and great discount on original price. Taking it to Cannock tomorrow, can't wait.
Anyway, enjoy the Rockrider though, if it weren't for the fact I'm getting my bike on finance I would probably have gone for that myself.0 -
5 times? A new record I think.I don't do smileys.

It was the GT Avalanche 1.0 2011 that i ended up getting. It's a little heavier but feels rock solid. Not really tested it yet but i have been out on it and it feels great. Everythings working smooth and stuff.
Only thing at the moment is the handlebars. Should they be curving down? On my old one i had them curving up but i'd changed them a while back so maybe put them on wrong.
I'm not sure I like the feel of them curving down the way.0 -
You probably just need to rotate the bars around slightly. There could be all sorts on the bike that you want to set up to suit you. Post a pic and we can advise on the bars.0

Oh my god, just came back to browse and realised what I'd done!!! Didn't mean that at all. If a mod wants to delete 4 of those posts feel free. :P
In terms of how the bike feels what I'd probably do is take it out for a decent ride with your multi tool with you and adjust it and see how things affect the ride until your happy it's the best fitting.
I'm out on my bike in Cannock for the first time on it tomorrow. Will be making all the adjustments then as at the moment it's just as it came from the shop.0 -
