I'm thinking of a bike that would suit you perfectly. Can you guess what it is?

  • There's no such thing as a 'bad' bike in that price range, I'd be tempted to pick up a 2011 model on sale though I think.

To be fair, it wasn't a useless comment, it was a dry way of asking for some links to help us assess the bike's you're considering

Dry? What the hell does that mean?
    What should I say?

    "Dear Sir

Your missive above is somewhat lacking in detail, and it would be of some assistance if you could post links to the aforementioned bicycles.
This would help people to make sensible suggestions and recommendations pertaining to your specific enquiry.

Looking forward to receiving said information in due course.

Mike, you shouldve taken cooldads advice, if you'd provided said links, no doubt you'd have some useful input by now.

You've asked for advice on a somewhat niche market, people aren't encyclopedia. You've got to help others help you.

Spesh have a new Camber 29er range coming out, about 1900 quid upwards. Got good reviews in 26" format. No details online yet, properly launched this week.

Sit on them, try them for fit and ride them on some trails.

If you've never ridden a 29er before you may find they handle differently to a bike with normal size wheels

I have no experince but the hear-say is that they roll over bumps better but suffer in tight twisty singletrack.

Mmmm, not seen a price for the build yet but I was very, very impressed with the Transition Bandit 29er. Way better than the Niner and GF that I have ridden.

Not quite impressed enough to make me want to change from 26" wheels though.

Trek Rumblefish 1 was on sale at Evans :) down from 2500 to 2000 which would be a good deal if they still have some in stock

I think that a bit of common sense is needed. You post on a forum where it'd likely that 99.9% don't know who you are (there are >210000 registered member so that's a safe assumption), how you ride or where you ride. As Cooldad said not everyone is psychic.

There are mulitple MTB disciplines and it wouldn't be very useful to recommend a specialized S-works Epic 29er if you want to ride it as a DH or freeride bike?

So if you want constructive answers give as much info as possible.

If you just post up I have 2k and want a 29 inch bike, you come across as a complete pillock who doesn't know what their talking about.
