I have had many bikes stolen, all been reported to the police. I have never received even a sniff of a recovery. I did actually find one who ironically had been visiting a flat above my uncle - which he wasn't to know.

Waited outside and reported to the police who were 5 mins drive away. After 45 mins they hadn't turned up and the guy started to leave on my bike. He didn't get far and immediately tried blaming it on someone else.

I think he will probably think twice about buying a nicked bike in the future lol!

Anyway, the latest bike I had stolen was from a burglary, I now keep my bikes in the flat after having my garage broken into. The advice I was given was to "keep an eye on Gumtree and Ebay". Helpful. After they had gone I realised that there was a block of flats being built near me and new they had CCTV. I contacted them and asked them if it was possible to review.

I informed the police about this potential "witness" Did they go and bother having a look through the tapes? LOL

Back to the title of this thread. Was scanning Ebay this morning to get an idea for completed listings prices.

And I came across this guy http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI ... ckAsSeller

who only seems to sell bike parts and components. He states "This item was taken from a recent house / property clearance."

He must go to a hell of a lot of house clearances where seemingly everyone has decent bike components! When he says property clearance I guess he is right. He is clearing property that isn't his!

I have no doubt that this guy is a scumbag bike thief. Please name and shame others who you feel are bike thieves on Ebay and Gumtree.

Please remember the police actually advised me to do this.

Cheers

  • Sorry to hear about bike being nicked but there is a concept of Innocent until proven guilty.

Have a look at his feedback as a buyer, he buys quite a few bike parts aswell including from ebay stores. Perhaps he does a bit of buying and selling on ebay but doesn't want people to think that he is doing this and uses the house clearance story.

You reckon - lol! The last bike part I can see he bought was Dec 2010!! - nearly 9 months ago.

He certainly hasn't bought many, if any whole bikes and the parts he sells don't match up to what he has bought.

The fact that all of the parts he sells seem to be from completely random bikes and the only things he has more than a few times bought is frames!

You're right - he may be completely innocent. I find it suspicious that he has all these random parts and is quite happy to let most of them go to auction. Carbon forks for £30!!

Come off it - anything he gets is profit IMO!!
