I only paid £450 for it because it was ment to be the 2010 model which is extacually the same as 2011 apart from the colour scheme and it has elxier 3s instead of juicy 3s. The forks are the same but rockshox just rebranded last years tora 302 coil as recon silver tk's. I did some how get the recons though so im not moaning :PMy Rockrider 8.1

My birthday is coming up soon and i was thinking some bling would be nice. Maybe red superstar bling like Q/R sqewers, seat clamp etc. What do you think? My Rockrider 8.1

Ooh, Me likes the sound of bling!
Going on the 'subtle hints of red' theme... black Superstar grips (whichever cartidges) with red bar ends and lock rings, red Zenith setclamp, these carbon-Ti skewers from On-One (identical to Superstar's just unbranded [and cheaper!]) >>
www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/WSPXTISTQR/planet- ... bon-levers
And some red KCNC chainring bolts from XC Racer or Ready to Ride Cycles.
Possibly some slightly more pointless/expensive bling... Red Nano Tech Flats (I stress, not nessecary!). ...break yours first
Jolly nice bike btw! Incredibly well specced to the money!0 -
Nice bike. I'm liking the matte finish on the recons, sets them apart a little.
If I were to bling it out at all I'd start as has been said, stuff like QR skewers and seat clamp. CRC are doing massive discounts on last years crank brothers split QR's, got myself the seat clamp on order. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=48475
I'd get a new black outer ring for the chainset too, think that'd finish the stealth look off nicely.0 -
I hate to say it, but I think the majority of folk that have tried the CB Split QR Seatclamp will agree that it really is sh!te... A mate bough one at the RRP thinking that it'd be worth it; it wasn't :?
I use a Chromag at the mo, and it's bloody good and haven't had any issues as of yet... But at £35 it's a tad pricey. Looking back I'd probably have gone with one of the new Superstar ones, from a bling perspective alone...
Btw if anyone is looking for a 30.0mm clamp in red I have a band new Salsa flip-lock which I bought brand new off here without thinking (I got the wrong size )
and apologies for the advertising Webby :P0 -
Its fine chrisjnr19 as long as it doesn't take over :P. I looked at the sqewers but there road fit so ill stick with these i think http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_ ... cts_id=338. Anyone used them? i was thinking about maybe this as a seat clamp to match the style of the sqewers; http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_ ... cts_id=412. What do you think? My Rockrider 8.1

Just an update. Been riding it alot recently and its great fun . Didn't get out on it at the weekend though because I went paintballing for my 16th Birthday tomorrow though and I have some superstar bling coming from my brother. Black excel grips with red lock rings and end caps red carbon and ti Q/Rs red superfly seatpost clamp to match the style of the Q/Rs and finally the red carbon look a like headset spacers Oh and some red presta valve caps from some where in Taiwan . One problem with the presents that I know about at the moment is that the pillocks at the packaging in superstar sent me the wrong items but they are replacing them without a problem so its all good there . Pics to come tomorrow

Just a quick update. Not been riding as much at the moment due to exams and boring stuff :P Went riding yesterday though and I have decided that I want some wider bars. I am looking for some low rise bars or same rise as mine at the moment which is 20mm i think. My current bars are 600 so i was thinking 620mm at least, they need to be fairly cheap as well. Any suggestions? My Rockrider 8.1
http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/forums/vie ... t=127982180 -
id go minimum 660mm width. trust me you will feel loads more confident. have a look at raceface, FSA or truvativ bars.
loads to choose from with different rise's, sweeps, all sorts. iv currently got truvativ stylo team in 680mm and i think their pretty spot on.2011 KHS Full Susser Carbon 29er Race BuildClank wrote:M'eh, I might just go back to zapping it with frikken lay-zur beeeems. And sharks.0 -

Quick update. Got those bars for christmas, and i must say what a difference. The bike is now bullied by me into which way it is going not like it used to be, me suggesting where i want it to go :P Also just ordered some specialized s-works storm control tyres for the mud because im fed up with the masses of mud build up around my frame and fork meaning the wheels wont turn Sould be here soon. In the next few days im going to be knicking my brothers stem to try a shorter length with my new bars and we'll see how that goes. Ill take some pictures when its cleaned and the new tyres are here

Hi have the same bike, changed most of the stock parts, have you ever needed to replace headset bearings or crown race.
