hi, been riding firexc pro for good year or two and to be fair not getting a great deal of confidence of turns etc, front wash out. Ride regularly around surrey hills and surrounding area xc with some reasonable am too.
Any advise on front and rear tyre options/recommendations.

In the past I have found them to be great...with the front washing out have you got your weight distributed properly ?
High Rollers are dependable, and also Nobby Nics0 -
I've used Fires in the past and found them excellent on the rear, not so up front. I've also had issues with the front end washing away with little or no warning.
I'm now running a Maxxis Minion DHF 2.35 single ply 60a up front and find it has way more grip and is much more confidence inspiring. Bit heavier and slower then the Fire though but that's the price you pay.0 -
personally, find fires way better than nobby nics- especially on the rear. Nobby becomes a bit all over the place on the corners if run "low" pressure- lighter though0

I have been using Panaracer Fire Xc Pro 2.1's for near 2 years now and have found them to be brilliant. I have used them on marathons and enduro's on my Orange 5 but on the race bike they are a tad too heavy for my liking now and too much rolling resistance. Now use Rocket Ron's but im not convinced by these yet. Anything other than racing, the panaracers i find are great!
I do use Maxxis High Roller 2.35's for heavy stuff with a super tacky on front which are good.
If you want a light grippy tyre then Conti X-King 2.2's are ment to be really good with the Black Chilli compound. I will be getting some of these soonhttp://www.mudsweatgears.co.uk
