I have a 12 yr old Ridgeback Omega which I am giving to a mate, however when I asked her if she had cycled in london before she said 'yes for the past 5 years...i got hit so many times..'

Then I asked her what bike she rode, her reply 'I had 5-6 stolen over the past 5 years.. mainly cheap mountain bikes...' :x

This has sent shivers down my spine, I want the bike to go to someone who will care for it and ride it properly...

She is coming to collect it next week...

What would you do?

Get my hair cut, clean my nails, wash the sheets, put on some sensual music and have a bottle of wine open.

Given the above 'serious' responses, mine could be a little frivolous

If you just want shot of the bike then it doesn't matter about her cycling/security habits, however if it appears she's not as caring about bikes as you are then look elsewhere or see if there is a local cycling organisation that could use it.

Don't forget to cook her a meal also

Is that the bike you said I could have when you bought Harry? I'm still interested if you don't want to give it to her.

...and if you do want to give it to her, take pictures. You have a tripod and your camera has a timer, right?

  • Give her an old but decent lock too and the number of a local cycle instructor too?

I had a pal who kept complaining about getting bikes nicked. Then it turned out they were using locks that cost £5 from TK Maxx.

I actually had one of those locks. I forgot my keys and locked up the bike in Sainsbury's. Rather than walk home for the keys I tried to force it. With bare hands. It broke.

Now I don't use a lock. Leave it somewhere safe or charge someone to watch it for you.

You find someone who will pay you to watch your bike?!! Doesn't that take quite a long time or do you live in Norfolk?

  • This thread is worthless without photos (of said friend, not bike). If she is hot then give it to her, let her have the bike also.

On a seriuos note. You are giving it away so clearly you dont want it so therefore you must accept that its fate is not in your hands.

If you are having second thoughts then just tell her that you need it after all, sorry and all that.
Hey, maybe you haven't been keeping up on current events, but we just got our asses kicked, pal!
