hi folks, just wondered if anyone had suffered the same plight as me regards the micky mouse looking magic shine lights, after one winters worth of riding the switch had started to flick on and off whilst riding, and then eventually stopped working all together. ive taken the switch apart and found the circuit board with 2 of the wires unattched. the wires are SO tiny, i cant even see where they were soldered to, so fixing it that way dont seem too viable.
can the switch be bypassed so the light just comes on on full whack all the time do you think? or can i just buy a replacement switch?or maybe i should just get a big hammer and bring it down HARD on top of the light, and then throw it in the bin?.....and then go out and buy a hope vision 4 or an exposure max daddy!!!! any help would be gratefully recieved, cos at the moment, the last option is seeming like the most likely one! cheers, si.

  • Surely off road you use it at 100% anyway right? If so, why don't you make your own switch to run it as you said then buy a cheap old £20 for riding on the road as not to blind the oncoming drivers....

Just a thought... Don't think you'll be able to find a spare switch board, although maybe someone's selling one somewhere with a broken LED and you could be in luck!!!

just solder the 2 wires on to a standard switch. then u just have plain on / off setting. im pretty sure u can get water proof switches too. thats what i did on my old lights, 3 times in fact. then changed all the wiring cos it was really cheap crap stuff. then my bike got nicked with it all attatched lol. gutted (this was about 5 years ago, so tech will have moved on since then)

yeah matty, i dont ride on the road at all if i can help it, so it would make sense to just wire it all together so that it just works on full all the time, dunno how to do that though! im CRAP with electrics!!
kinmofo, i think there is about 5 wires in total, and i aint a clue what to do with em all, im sure ill work it out, trial and error will prevail!!
cheers for your input guys. si.
  • If you know anyone with the same light crack theirs open and see what colour wire solders to which pad on the PCB (assuming it is has pads, or at least something similar on the PCB).
