hi all hoping someone can help with a query, im going to change my saddle for one a little wider as my sit bones arent really on the saddle properly my question is, at the moment i have the standard specialized body fit geometry jobbie and im unsure how im going to replace it as it looks like i have one bolt holding the seat to the post from underneath and another that looks like it is accessed through the slit in the saddle its self. If i replace it with a saddle with out a slit or just a channel instead how do i clamp it on???
any advice appreciated

Am assuming you mean the clamop on the seat post holdoing the saddle. Depends on design of seatpost, but I guess only the bolt head acessible from below is needed to loosen. Try it and see.0

'll just pull it appart and see what happens lol0

I would imagine the rear bolt (from underneath) releases the saddle clamps. The front bolt (accessed from the top when the saddle is off) will be to adjust tilt0

Maybe, but most clamps adjust in release, set-back and tilt with one bolt. You really want the saddle on when you're setting tilt. Anyway, the thing to do is try it and see.0

the saddle in question is a specialized body geometry riva road (apparently) and it has two bolts holding it to the seat post . the one nearest the back is accessed from bellow while the one further forward is accessed from the top, through the hole in the top of the saddle. To me it doesnt look like i will be able to get any other saddle to fit on this mounting so am i best off just buying a new seat post and saddle? Does anyone have any experience of these saddles ? and swapping them
thanks

That saddle is a standard two rail design that should fit on any standard seat post clamp. So it seems that if anything is non-standard it's your seat post clamp. Can you post photos?0

i'll have a go at posting some pics not sure how tho. Im not that good with pc's but i will have a go as you have said it could well be the seat post clamp that is going to stop me fitting a new saddle. I'll try to add pics when i get home from work0

I know the type of post that you're talking it about. Is your one made by Specialized?
My top tip would be to get yourself a new seat post which is easier to adjust. Even if you purchase another saddle with a cut out (so you can easily get to the middle bolt), the design still a total nightmare trying to set the correct angle.
Setting up a saddle which doesn't have a cut out is possible but very fiddly. You will end up crying and wanting to break things.
I'd recommend a Thompson Elite post. Good deals at Ribble at the moment.0 -
You can still remove the saddle and attach a new one without having to unscrew the front bolt that is just to adjust the angle... I suggest you try loosening the back one and you will see what I mean it will give you a better understanding than anyone attempting to tell you, don't worry you will be able to do it back up without any worry of changing the position of your saddle.0

thanks for the info guys i think the easiest thing will be a new post, i havent worked out how to add pics on here, but if you search google there are some pics of my seat post on here i know thats not helpful lol but best i can do. Yes Nuggs the post is a bog standard seat post from specialized that came fitted to my 2011 allez 24. i shall investigate a thompson elite post i think. Once again thanks all

I have an allez too and there isn't really any point in spending unnecessary money on a new seatpost you remove the saddle by loosening off the back bolt that is accessed from the bottom the front has nothing to do with the removal of the saddle. As I said try it and you will understand what I mean..0

thanks G.Zero i'll give that a try later and them maybe i can get a more comfortable saddle as the stock one is just to narrow, all my weight is on the middle of the seat which is extremely unconfortable really0

I also replaced the stock saddle I went for a charge spoon. That and a pair of padded shorts is infinitely better for me, obviously everyone is different though0
