Just getting back into riding after ten years away at the moment I am doing a lot of seaside front cycling just to build up strength and stamina. My problem is the bike is getting covered in dust at the moment I am just using car shampoo to wash it down is there any thing else I can do to protect the bike?

Keep it clean and lube the chain.
If you wash it after each ride you will notice any developing faults and can deal with them before they become an issue. The washing should also help to keep the salt air and damp from corroding the metals.

Might be worth a light wax on the frame. That would help stop dust sticking and make it cone off more easily too
