Has anyone got a 1.5" headset press I could lend?

I will obviously pay postage and provide a nominal amount of beer tokens

Its a brand new frame and CK headset, so dont want to 'bodge it'

[MODS - please move if in wrong section - thanks]

    No alas not nick,

Is the threaded rod, 2 nuts with appropriate steel and plastic washers a 'no-no'?

My LBS doesnt have a 1.5" press and has refused to do it LOL....

He also said 1.5" was a 'fad' and wouldnt catch on (he is about 70)

just get some plate cut and have a hole in it to fit the LBS's press or there are some out there for less than £40. and a headset press aint lighht so postage would be a bit.

  • Seems like the sensible choice, as at least I could use it on the next 1 1/8th project ;)

    Although I found a 1.5" for £55

I understand if you want to do it properly, but I have this and it fits 1/18th and 1.5 no problem:

Hey that actually looks OK, I may even give that a punt. Ill just take my time and do one cup at a time, with a smidge of grease should be OK.

If not I am coming to get you ;)

one cup at a time IS the correct way.

many people do and it can cause problems as you are trying to clamp 3 things together.

I used that cheapy ebay tool to do the headset on my Piglet and tbh it's not amazing. Just need to go slow, and be very careful not to allow the cup to go to squiffy as you press it in. If I had to do the job again I'd be tempted to take it to an LBS.
