SLX bash ring

I'd like to remove the outer chain ring on my Shimano M542 chainset and fit SLX bash ring.

Will it fit? And if it does, do they use the existing chain ring bolts?

No, you need different chain ring bolts. Your chainset will have M8 x 8.5mm chainring bolts. To fit an SLX bash guard you need M8 x 12mm bolts with shaped washers to prevent splitting the guard.
