Chain breaking

Hi

I have pushed the pin through on a link but I can't completely push it through as my chain tool pushes the outer link through also and bends it? Have I a dodgy chain tool or am I doing something wrong?

I have two ends of the chain now both with the pin hanging on the outside of the link?

I hope I have explained myself correctly?

Sounds like you're not using the chain tool correctly

Or the pin on the chain tool is damaged
