Flaming saddles - Rookie in need of help.

Hello all.

I have a Scott Addict (2011 model) with a Scott branded saddle - up until now the perch has been adequate but as I'm ramping up by mileage need to upgrade to something a little lighter, maybe more comfortable, but more importantly flash looking - and here's where I'm struggling.

I've taken a shine to a number of Fizik and Selle Italia saddles and even purchased a Fizik Antares which wasn't compatible with the seatpost clamp on the Ritchey Pro Carbon seatpost (which came as standard on my Scott). My existing seatpost has a two-part clamp with two bolts, and as I've learned, these clamps are not compatible with improved saddles and adapters of various dimensions are required, all of which appear to be 'one-bolt systems'.

An online retailer has explained to me that because that my existing seatpost has a two-bolt clamp, it won't take the one-bolt systems required to fit carbon-railed saddles and those of a similar ilk. Thus, apparently I need a new seatpost to fulfil my quest of securing something new on which to park my rear.

So, is the retailer correct or are they trying to get more of my hard earned? If not, what do have to do in order to successfully fit a new saddle? Any help you can give would be gratefully received - as you can probably tell I'm enthusiastic albeit somewhat ignorant.

Sincere thanks,

Stu

    imho they are talking tosh

with a standard railed saddle, both 1 and 2 bolt clamps will be fine, i've got both, no problem

some carbon railed saddles have rails too big for some clamps, but that's a clamp clearance issue, nothing to do with 1/2 bolt clamps

in what way is it incompatible with the antares?
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

+1, the only problem normally is on rail diameter
