derailleur loose
Just limped my bike back from a sunday ride due to the derailleur slipping out of line.
Just had a service at the shop..Is it normal for a bike to do this or is it purely just not done up enough...Shall i take it back to the bike shop?, only had it seven weeks..Thanks guys ...Rhurbarb

so what has happened?
the cable come lose/snapped?
or just lost tension?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Sounds like the derailier hanger has worked its way loose to me, needs a bit of loctite on it....if it is the derailier hanger then sounds like the shop didn't put it on it when assembling....My Road Bike:-

Sorry about the late reply..been having problems with certain gears especially the 1 to 3 gears ,this may of been the problem of the derailier being not torqued up correctly...it swiveled itself around the frame ,cable was fine...Had a triple converted to a double when i bought the bike 7 weeks ago.just had its first free service too...I wasnt sure if it was down to my gearchanging...the derailier wouldnt of been changed over would it ...Thanks rhubarb0

It's possible they fitted a shorter cage rear mech when converting from a triple to a double, but it wouldn't have been essential. Do you have a detailed invoice telling you what you were paying for?
Is it all tightened up now and working?0 -
Hi Keef ,as im in the local bike club the shop charged full price for the bike but wasnt charged for the parts to convert it to a compact....
Seems to be working ok now, used to change gears on hills like a russian tank
It did take 7 weeks to slip ,so not sure if it will happen again ....
Cheers guys will use loctite if it slackens again Regards Rhurbarb :P0
