Sad as it may seem, the summer riding season won't be with us for much longer so the time has come to buy some cycling specific trousers. The one i have been looking at are the Endura Singletrack as i already have a pair of singletrack shorts.

Are these worth buying or are there any other ones out there that you would recommend?

Looking at these myself, well, liking the look of the humvees as already have them in the shorts. Be good to hear from anyone with either or others.

I wore a pair of SingleTrack 3/4's for the whole of last winter, They were used for commuting and night riding and were perfect for me.
I was that impressed with them I bought the Short version for my summer commuting and pleasure riding this year.

I have singletrack 3/4 and when it gets cold put bib tights on underneath

what I'd say is that although they're good I find the flappy velcro at the bottom of them a pain and if I was buying again I'd go for humvees as the quality is spot on and the humvees come with a liner whereas the singletracks don't

    both good though

There's an expensive, but thoroughly awesome option - Endura Stealth Xtreme waterproof "tights" (their name, not mine, I'd call them leggings, but there you go).
If you're more of a normal MTBer, and prefer baggies, just stick them under your shorts.
Combine them with Sealskin socks, and you could go wading in them :D
  • How comfortable is it wearing tights? Never tried them before.

I'm a reformed roadie so I've worn them for a long time but very comfortable I would say.

The Endura ones are actually really comfortable. As a side effect, I notice that my legs don't cramp up as much when riding in them, curiously.
They're dead handy, since you can put them on under any pair of trousers, and hey presto - waterproof kecks.
In fact, they're what I use for snowboarding - just put them on under some baggy combats.

keep an eye out on this forum for the advance notice of the Aldi sale in september

get some of their winter bib tights - they are spot on for MTB and cheap enough to buy a couple of pairs and not worry about them

    Yup.

I don't have those specific ones, but I've got a pair of full length Roubaix bib tights from Ribble. No idea what 'roubaix' means, but they're fleecy on the inside!

Very comfy, and it means that I can still wear shorts. It's obviously a personal thing, but I can't stand doing anything 'active' whilst wearing trousers, I just find them too restrictive.

Some waterproof tights may well be on my shopping list to keep me commuting through the winter actually.

  • Thanks for the feedback. Never thought about tights before but looking at some of your comments they look ideal for winter riding.

I initially wanted the Endura singletracks for commuting to work in winter. Due to the fact that it is only a 6 mile round trip i thought these would be ideal. For off road action i think what bails 87 is saying about them being restrictive would stand true.

They are pretty damned expensive - I think I paid £80 or so for mine. But they are very versatile, and have found very regular use.

I've got the Endura Singetrack trousers. See my review here. I can highly recommend them. I wear these all year, even on the hottest of summer days. They're ideal when riding through the nettles and near brambles. In the winter I do still wear some cheap tights type leggings underneath.

I use the humvee trousers and find them comfortable enough, not waterproof though if that is an issue.

I have some singletrack trousers. Used them all last winter for commuting. Very comfy, warm enough when really cold, good pockets. I would certainly recommend them. I also ride road bikes,so am used to wearing bib shorts and 3/4s but wouldnt inflict these on my work colleagues!

If you're just looking for warmth - any snowboarding/skiing tights/leggings under a pair of combats will be fine. Obviously not waterproof. And tbh my (non-waterproof) snowboard leggings weren't far off the price of yeehaamcgee's super-duper waterproof ones.

Got some of these myself. Great trousers with lots of pockets and look like they will last a while.

They did though come up a bit small (I chose a medium based on the size chart), especially around the thighs but at least there is some stretch in the material
