I have a quick simple question to ask, about my Hope Tech X2 brakes, which is not covered in any manual...

I am trying to replace the pads for the first time. The PIN that holds the pads in place, which goes through the caliper body and pads. Mine has stuck fast!! Should it screw out easily with a hex key? I assume that it is threaded and therefore will not tap out with a hammer, correct?

KK.

    Thanks.

It took 20 mins of twisting but it eventually turned with a snap!! Job done, and I put a dab of cappa anti-seize on both the pin thread, and the back fo the pads to prevent resonnance when braking.

Personally i wouldn't use the copper slip. The pin only needs a very light tighten up as the pin through the end will stop it unscrewing anyway. Unlikely to happen, but the paste might (just might!) get onto the pads themselves, I dont get any resonance when braking and it seems IMO a needlless thing to do, the grease will just attract dirt and grit into the brake area.
