..I want to check with the more experienced of you that I haven't left anything out or forgotten to do anything. I ended up getting myself a set of Reba RLT Ti.

I've done as follows:

1. Removed Dart 3 rubbish keeping all spacers and bearings in order even though it is pretty obvious which way round they go.

2. Removed old crown race from Darts.

3. Cut Reba steerer tube and took to LBS to stick a star nut in it for me.

4. Cleaned all the bearings, dust seals and race surfaces.

5. Fitted crown race to new forks.

6. Greased lower bearings and fitted before lowering bike over the new steerer.

7. Greased and fitted upper bearings and dust seals.

8. Fitted spacers in same order they were removed in.

9. Fitted stem and top cap and nipped the top cap bolt up.

10. Tightened stem onto the steerer to recommended torque settings.

11. Fitted pop-loc stuff and fitted cable into housing at top of the forks.

12. Re-fitted brake calipers and strapped brake hose to the lower leg mounting guides.

Now I'm taking the bike to my LBS again tonight coz they're going to graciously pump my forks up for me since my pump hasn't turned up yet and I'm worried it won't arrive before Sunday.

Is there anything else I need to do before I give the forks a hard time?

    Then centering the brake callipers.....

Seriously, as long as you did all the steps correctly it should be fine, don't forget the bearings can sometimes settle a bit, so make sure you have the tools to nip it back up!

  • Aye I'm gonna take my tools with me just incase the crown race isn't 100% seated anyway. It certainly looks to be, but even if it moved a mm or so it would start to play, so I'll have my stuff with me just in case.

I'm forever centering the brakes anyway. It's just one of those things I'm always fiddling with. (I'm never happy that anything's 100% right)

just set the brake and leave it.

every time you play with it in needs to bed in again. it is best to just let it sort its self out if you have set it right.
