  • I like Condor, tbh. I know not everyone has a good experience there, but they've always been very friendly and helpful, and they have good stock.

Specialised Cycles in Norwich(not the bike brand) Nothing special in terms of location or brands in stock but probably one of the best mechanics in the area.

I am new to cycling compared to a lot of you here but have found variability in the few places I have visited.

Online I have used CRC, Wiggle and Evans and all are good.

Evans in Manchester are very good in terms of not asking for money if they explain somethng and remediate small stuff.

Bikes and Boards in Devizes is the only place I have found a jersey to fit a rugby-player shaped body so props to them.

Cycles Dauphin at the top of box hill in surrey have a LOT of flash kit so appeal to my newbie magpie side. Also remediated a "creaking" noise and trued both wheels for £20 which I consider to be good value.

If I had to choose one place for being useful, it has to be Evans simply because they match any price you can find so long as their competitor has it in stock.

    Google.

And then choose the online bike shop that has what I want in my size / at the best price.

For browsing, I like Evans. I find the small LBS' a little small and personal for relaxed browsing, and sometimes a bit snobby.
  • I really like On Your Bike in Birmingham, massive range of stuff and really friendly knowledgeable staff. Helped me out of noob town!

Here's mine, although it's probably not too handy for you :-)

Click on "Fotos Produkte" (top right, next to the Union Jack/Stars and Stripes) to see why I like it.

Vos in Amsterdam, over2000 bikes and well over 1000 frames and all the gear you could wish for. TBH to save time you would be better off knowing exactly what u want before you go there because if you are just going to browse and eventually choose a bike or frame to be built up you will end up spending hours in the place.Oh, and it is the cheapest place for bikes in Europe. Only disadvantage is the shop is not fancy, no fancy displays just rows and racks of bikes and frames.Looks more like a warehouse than a shop.

I bought my Orbea Onix from there 4 years ago, great service and I would use them more if I were nearer.

I got my Sunday from Fat Birds a few years back, they were fantastic. Because they were building it from the frame up they must have spent at least an hour on the phone talking through the build options.

When the bike arrived there were a few issues, one of the graphics has a small scratch in it and the headset was not running smooth. I called them and the next day I had a complete set of decals delivered directly from Sunday/Sabbath (another great company). Because I was over 200 miles away they paid for it to go to my LBS to have the headset fixed(changed). Great serice indeed.

  • Le Peloton Cycles in Winchmore Hill as a quality LBS, personal service and only the best product.

Wiggle/CRC for online offers, cheap tools and bundle deals.

Evans in Waterloo for everything in-between, friendly staff, decent mechanics and they will order ANYTHING in for you (no matter how big/small).

See your point with Evans. Spent 20 mins hanging round a £1kbianchi the other day and nobody even approached me.
