  • 4.8 miles from door to door....but i sometimes add a bit to make it up to 10 each way! Depends on the weather......or more importantly the wind!

11.4 miles (shortest and quickest route) door to door, so a 22.8 round trip.

More often than not it gets extended, which adds up to another 5.1 each way.

Maximum round trip = 33 miles.

Down the stairs, through the hall into the kitchen. Quick cup of tea then back through the hall into the study :D

Either that, or a couple of hours up the motorway.

I've been doing 5ish miles each way for the last 5 years, but from a week on Tuesday I'll be doing 20 miles each way for 4 months. Sort of looking forwards to it, but sort of scared about what 200 miles a week is going to do to me!

Been done to death this and it degenerates into a willy-waving contest. I'll stick mine out of the window now to get it over with. 20.7 miles each way, some, more or fewer days per week.

4.9 miles each way with a trusty mtb 8)

I am extremely impressed with those who ride 15miles each way everyday! i mean... it would take pretty much an hour ride with effort each trip.

I mean, is it really worth it? I hate getting to the office with sweat and smell.

Yes, of course its worth it, my commute is the largest portion of my training volume, plus it saves me a fair whack in diesel.

I've never had an issue with "sweat and smell"
  • 12 mile round trip if I use the train for the middle bit.
34 mile round trip if I go the hilly way.
40 mile round trip if I go the less hilly way.

(I normally use the train, and ride home the full distance 1 or 2 times a week right now)

I love it, but then we have great facilities at work...

I love getting up and NOT getting showered. I find if I shower early on it doesn't properly wake me up. I love getting ready and getting on my bike, because I love riding. I love the first few minutes of gentle spinning, followed by a little hard work. I love putting the power down to try and catch up with the cyclist that you can see up the road, or dropping in a few intervals on the way to really get your legs burning. I love getting into work with the endorphins flowing, knowing that there's going to be somewhere safe to leave my bike, a hot shower and then a hot cup of tea (especially on a wet or cold day!).

20 miles each way, so 40 total - do it once a week.

Only being doing this during the summer months and tried a longer 30 mile return journey this week and had to manage a bit of leg cramp in the last few miles when having to get out of the saddle.

Damn. Unless you have a very long staircase you've beaten my record :-)
