Hi Guys and Girls,
Newbie here, I am looking at building some new wheels with the hope pro 2 hubs and just wanted your thoughts on it :!:
The front wheel will be going onto the fox float 32 and was wondering should i go for the 28H or 32H and what would be the benefits or indeed the downfalls for either.
Also what size should i go for 15mm or 20mm :?: I asked the guys at my local bike shop but they weren't sure what the differences where if any so i thought where better to ask than you lovely people here on the forum :D
Apologies if this has been asked before but would appreciate your thoughts,

Cheers for now peeps

I have a set of Pro 2's on stans flow rims.

32H....in theory, more spokes = stronger, fewer spokes = lighter.

as far as 15 or 20mm goes....depends on your fork. If its qr dropouts, then qr....if its a 15mm axle then 15mm.....

My 32 is 15mm, so thats what I ordered. It is worth saying that the wheels I got were fitted with the qr spacer, and the 15mm kit in a little plastic pouch included....they basically just push in and out....very easy to fit.

    I could be wrong but i don't think there is a 20mm float 32.

If the guys at your local bike shop didn't know the difference between a 15 and 20mm hub....I would seriously consider not using them for anything else than buying an emergency innertube.

What fitting to you have on the forks? Are they old quick release or do they use the 15mm bolt through axel?

28h is only a marginal weight saving, small in comparison to the strength gain of a 32. If its a float 32 it will be either QR or 15mm depending on your fork choice. I would go 15mm every time if you are buying the forks.

If you want to save weight, consider building a 32h wheel with DT Supercomps or even DT Revolution spokes. that will produce a good weight saving over regular comp or Sapim Race spokes. I would avoid the alloy nipples though. Thats only a 40g saving and not worth the grief IMHO.

holes. depends on your rim choice.

axle size depends on your Fork fitting. (Hopes will fit all options).

If you haven't already bought the hubs, hope's really aren't worth the money. I have got Hope Pro 2's on one bike & Superstar Switch Evo front & Superstar Trizoid read & the superstar rear is much better than the Pro 2, it picks up so much faster, the switch evo front is as good as the hope but half the price
