Your licence will tell you what category you are in. But if you don't know that, what makes you think you even have any points..?0 -

Just a possibility, the lad may have done lots of races, be aware he might well have accumulated plenty of points as a result if he's done well, but does not keep a personal tally updated after every race, since the only true record is what is officially awarded when the results are finalised, after protests, DQ's and what have you.
It's a reasonable question. Pity you couldn't be bothered to answer in a civil manner.Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -

If you had ever raced, you would know that it's not possible to enter one without actually listing your category level on the entry form or the start sheet (unless he's entering 'go race' events, in which case you won't get points anyway).
You only have to look on your licence to remind yourself of your ability category. I can't see what is so unreasonable about suggesting he looks at it.
As for the question, I thought it was a bit silly, on the basis that part of the answer should have been right in front of his eyes. Either way, pity you didn't fully understand it before jumping in with both feet.0 -

And if you had bothered to read what I wrote correctly, you may have noticed I made no reference to the question about what category he races in, since without explicitly stating that, I also thought it was a curious question. If he knows already he has a "silver" licence, then the race category should be obvious.
I only noted that the accumulation of points seemed to be a reasonable question, and that your response to that part was rather uncivil.
Over the course of a racing season, I'd suspect a lot of people are unaware of the exact status of their points accumulated.
Is that clear enough?Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -

you're showing your ignorance again, fella. Points are updated online on the BC website, usually within a few days of the event - you only have to look. If he has a silver licence, he will have a BC logon/password with his membership pack.
The only person being 'uncivil' here is you.0 -
jeeze, bickering children comes to mind.
In answer to the question, log in to the british cycling website. You should have a username and password if you have registered. go to your dashboard at the top and you will see some links to rankings and also results. In the rankings section you will see what points you gained while in your current category. Points won whilst in previous categories dont usually count towards points needed to go up to the next category.
The results link shows what races you have done, points and positions. Hope that helps0 -
...and good luck with the racing!0

So, instead of providing this information in your first reply to the OP, in a reasonable manner, you chose to belittle him/her for what you thought was a "silly" question? And I am being uncivil?
Since you bothered to post a reply in the first place, why not just provide the information you now have here? Was that difficult?
I know zero about BC race arrangements since I live in Australia. I simply thought your first response to a question from a new forum member who's still a teenager was rather blunt, rude and uncalled for. What you say to or think of me matters not.Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -

I have been reading these forums for a while and have gleaned that Pseudonym and P_Tucker are nigh-on trolls. They aren't kind and have seemingly no comprehension of reasonable modes of behaviour that I'm sure that 90% of people here possess. Simply put, they aren't in what I'd call a 'sphere of reasonableness'. You could go on and on about them, but here is some analysis for starters:
"you're showing your ignorance again, fella": The 90% of people I'd talked about would agree with me that this is a blunt and rude way to address someone. Of course, Pseudonym would probably say: but this guy IS ignorant. That's not the point, fella.
"If you had ever raced, you would know that it's not possible to enter one without actually listing your category level on the entry form or the start sheet (unless he's entering 'go race' events, in which case you won't get points anyway).

I would say that Pseudonym's use of language was almost slightly aggresive and condescending. As I say, speaking about manners and propriety to these sorts of persons just isn't going to work: it's like speaking another language. Concepts of such sorts are not at all recognized. We could converse for hours and hours, I'm sure, but because our values and presuppositions are just fundametally different, we'd have a hard time relating.
There's a lot more to be said but I just can't be bothered.
Anyways, keep on yur bikes!0 -
awesome....'saintdracula' - you are a proper wierdo mate..
Anyway, the guy already has the answers he needs - right in front of him. Congratulations to anyone who managed to point that out.Wheelspinner wrote:I know zero about BC race arrangements since I live in Australia.
Enough said. Let's just agree to differ on whatever point it is we are disagreeing on...0
